Rising From Rubble

These images capture every step of the recovery work in “the pit” that remained. Mr. Margules was one of the only civilians with access to ‘the pit’ throughout the months-long recovery operation at the World Trade Center site. This book is a tribute to the work of many First Responders, Rescue and Recovery workers. Many of whom he developed close ties to over his time as a volunteer photographer, and still maintains.

In the past two decades there have been significant health struggles to the First Responders

There are over 10,000 diagnosed with cancer, and many have succumbed to related illnesses as well. There are many others who are still struggling from 9/11 related illnesses. In October of 2013, Mr. Margules was diagnosed with Leukemia.

This book serves as a reminder of what happened then and is still happening now. This book also serves as a way to educate those who were too young, or perhaps not even born yet.
